About me

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Washington. I graduated from Antioch University with an MA in Couple and Family Therapy. I chose this therapy program as I wanted to study therapy from an integrated systemic perspective exploring the impact of internalized oppression, attachment, and multi-generational trauma. I received an undergraduate degree from Western Washington University and Huxley College with studies in psychology and the environment.

ECOLOGY and SELF: Before earning my degree in counseling I worked in the field of restoration ecology for many years.  This work involved cultivating a deep understanding of natural systems and also working to connect community to caring for the local environment.  Working with people in community environmental stewardship was integral to my shift in career to counseling. This background informs my work as a counselor and I see each client as part of a larger human and natural system. I also believe in the therapeutic value of the natural world and its powerful beauty and seek out nature for my own wellness as well as offer nature informed therapy to clients upon request.

CREATIVE practice: I am an artist working with multiple mediums: clay, illustration, photography, writing and movement.  Much of my creative work is centered around the natural world and my connectivity with the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. Creative practice is an important part of my own wellness and expression and I have long been inspired by the power of creative expression in peoples lives.  Now in addition to my own process, creativity is something I support in therapy.

Some personal practices that inform me as a therapist include a meditation practice, the use of mindfulness, my Reiki training and Ecotherapy. I also identify as a highly sensitive person and enjoy working with clients who are struggling with sensitivity.
